Over and Out!!

Developing as an Educator!

To the House of Hubbell. Where growth is a requirement.

My favorite class this year have been Science. It was huge and we got to do a lot of learning experiments. Check out the links in the About me section to see some of the fun things we did.

I've learned a lot these last two years and worked towards my goal of learning to be an effective teacher that will engage the students so that they are in charge of their own learning.

I am Enthusiastic, willing to learn from mistakes, inquisitive.

Professional Development

Continued collaboration with my peers, as well as, further education through research, seminars and PD's every Tuesday.

“Never be afraid to stop and start over trying something different”

Is It friday yet?

By the end of the year, I begin to feel drained. I look towards each weekend as a break and insist on taking no work home with me so that my focus is not on work. After every long break, I spend the week coming back working with the students on getting back into the learning mindset.

Websites used in the classroom:

  1. https://boomwriter.com/- gives the opportunity for students to continue writing stories, either based on a pre-written story or start their own and builds vocabulary.
  2. http://readworks.org - provides comprehension building with the ability to set academic levels individually; with a format similar to SBAC, students are confident when state testing begins.
  3. http://tes.com - provided great idea for lessons for Science

I looked for websites that were free and provided a great source for my students to build skills not just in reading and writing but also in computer skills. Readworks and Boomwriter were by far my favorite and the most used websites.

Here are some other websites I use. They are great for ideas and/or lessons:
